Packaging excellence in Travel Retail
Large-scale formats, special gift sets, limited editions, ‘travel’ range exclusives, gifts, and more… between advice and free access, brands treat the Travel Retail sector as its own separate market – and rightly so.
A customised product offer means that its corresponding cases and boxes must also meet several constraints, like appeal, exclusivity (meaning limited-quantity editions), clarity of offer, resilience, design ergonomics, etc. Here, costs have to be managed more than for any other market, all while preserving the same perceived value.
A solution for Travel Retail’s specific requirements
1-Shock resistance and ergonomics
To meet air transport restrictions, this market imposes very specific criteria in terms of function, weight, and resilience. Our expertise in Travel Retail allows us to be at your side throughout the entire project, from the choice of cardboard to compositions, micro-corrugation, lamination, and reinforced varnish.
2-Pack shots printed directly on the case:
Printing product pack shots is a crucial step in allowing consumers to immediately understand your offer. Our integrated studios ensure optimised print files: high-resolution images, bleed integration, choice of colour mode, consideration of surface treatment (varnish, lamination, gilding, etc.), PSO certification, and more besides.
Simplified processes for high-end results
Our recent investments into cutting-edge equipment provide us with optimal production quality, boosts in productivity, and more environmentally friendly techniques.
As a counterpart to hot stamping, this eco-friendly process cuts down on material and energy consumption by avoiding the use of gilding iron tools while recycling the PET film spools. It makes applying gold foil – the perfect decoration for Travel Retail – easier, and provides countless new design options. Its incorporation into Wauters’ offset module enables gold and silver to pair flawlessly with CMYK – the dream team of high-end photos and finishes.
2-Plastic-free metallisation transfer
This new lamination technique is already in use at Wauters’ Burgundy location and will soon be rolled out at our site near Paris. Before the printing phase, a metallic effect is applied all over the packaging, without adhering the foil’s plastic film. The film is removed, reclaimed, and recycled.
3-A new dual-purpose hot foil gilding and embossing machine
This machinery combines two forms of expertise, which streamlines hot stamping and embossing into one single application process. This ensures perfect registration quality and shorter start-up and production times.
Though Wauters is best known for its prowess in hot stamping, we’re experts in every type of finish (embossing/stamping, varnish, lamination). In 2022, we were labelled an Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (living heritage company) thanks to our know-how in embossing and hot stamping. This award recognises our Maison’s achievements over more than 110 years.
Our state-of-the-art equipment, expertise, and support are at your disposal to find innovative techniques and custom-fit solutions for your market.
