New dual-purpose machinery: our EPV-certified expertise in the spotlight
On the 1st of October, our Île-de-France location replaced some of its older equipment with a brand-new dual-purpose machine that combines hot foil gilding and embossing. This cutting-edge acquisition will allow the Wauters Group to boost its EPV-certified expertise in hot stamping and embossing.
A high-performing solution for exceptional finishes
The Wauters Group has always invested in state-of-the-art equipment, including machines with dual capabilities: front-and-back printing, embossing, and gilding. This bypasses one of the calibration steps and ensures better registration quality. The new dual machine provides improved performance in simultaneous hot stamping and embossing operations, which guarantees optimal consistency and production quality.
The benefits of technology updates
This new piece of equipment provides several advantages:
- More precise applications: hot stamping and embossing – ideal techniques for layering finishes – can reach an unparalleled level of detail, as well as perfect registration quality.
- Improved productivity: shorter start-up and production times.
- Energy-saving practices: this new machinery was designed to use less electricity – it’s better for the environment.
Hot stamping and embossing: two EPV-certified areas of expertise
For over a century, gilding has been our House’s foremost area of expertise. At the time, the very first Wauters workshop – located in the Marais district in Paris – mostly used gilding on leather (book covers, desk pads, etc.). Our expertise expanded to include labels, then evolved towards luxury packaging in the late 1960s, taking advantage of the House’s move to the graphic arts industrial area of Villebon-sur-Yvette.
Whether in solid fill, in fine details, or through cylinder application, our mastery of hot marking is now complemented by our expertise in cold marking.
Another key element to luxury packaging is embossing. Our workshop has been built to perform every type of embossing: multi-level, stamping, dry application, etc.
In 2022, these two skillsets were rewarded and highlighted by the EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) label. This label, which represents the government’s recognition, is awarded to French companies that show exceptional skill in their industry and craft.
